Medicine Woman
A thirteen part series about one doctor’s mission across six continents to learn the ancient knowledge that will help combat the modern diseases afflicting her people.
Dr Daniele Behn is on a quest that will see her travel to remote corners of the earth to learn the ancient secrets of the natural world and to meet with the healers and elders who keep these secrets.
Her journey takes her from the fringes of the Arctic Circle to the ancient lands of the Incas and Mayans, to lost valleys in Asia, across South Pacific islands, through the jungles of South America and over the grasslands and deserts of Africa.
Daniele’s own background ignites in her a passion for the teachings and practices of other indigenous cultures around the world.
This young Canadian First Nations doctor has a strong conviction that conventional medicine and natural therapies can complement each other in a holistic approach to the future of healing.
As the Medicine Woman, she is searching for natural healing traditions through the wisdom of shamans, medicine men and women, herbalists, yogis, folk healers and mystics.
The series is also a race against time as many of the plant species known to have healing powers are increasingly endangered or being driven to extinction.
